One or two weeks of workshops, lessons, playing music and relaxing on the beach.

June 2nd - 9th, 2007


Course Description:

Week One

One private lesson per week for each participant.

Saturday:
Travel, check-in and unpack. Welcome dinner at 7pm.
Playing circle and discussion after dinner.

Sunday:
10am-12pm Improvisation 1. Where to start and how to do it.

Monday:
10 -12 Playing by ear. How to pick out a melody without any music.

Tuesday:
10-12 Latin Rhythms. There are many Latin Rhythms to choose from. We will look at a few of them, break them down into manageable parts, then put them back together as music.

Wednesday:
10-12 Ensemble Playing. We will take some of what we have learned and play arranged music as a group. Selections will range from Celtic and classical to Latin.

Thursday:
10-12 Ensemble Playing. We will have the opportunity to play a concert at the resort. Anyone who wishes to participate is welcome to do so. There will be an extra rehearsal for this on Wednesday afternoon, as the concert will probably be on Thursday night.

Friday:
Free day for touring the local sights and packing. Farewell dinner at 7pm.

Saturday:
Check out is by 11am.

Jazz on the Celtic Harp
Making Your Own Arrangements

There will be ample private space for practicing, as well as anywhere on the grounds or on the beach!
